The Splash Pad
Swift-Cantrell Park’s splash pad offers a cool, wet play area for families. The 3,200-square-foot aqua playground offers water play options controlled by motion sensors including a
fountain spray, ground geyser, jet stream, magic mist, and multiple sea silhouettes. Splash pad hours are seasonal and subject to change based on weather conditions.
The Frank Boone Dog Park
Dog owners from all over the county come to the Swift-Cantrell Park’s 1.4 acre off-leash, Frank Boone Dog Park. This wonderful dog park has 6-foot-high perimeter fencing, two separate run areas (for large and small dogs), a watering station, dog wash area, and disposable plastic waste bags and receptacle stations. Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Picnic Pavilions
Reserve a picnic area for your next social gathering! Swift-Cantrell Park has three 1,320-square-foot open-air pavilions, each with enough picnic tables to accommodate 60 people. Each pavilion has two charcoal grills. There is no lighting under the pavilions and no electrical outlets.
The Wellness Station
The Life University Wellness Station at Swift-Cantrell Park is a complete fitness and body-weight training system designed to deliver a synergistic workout connecting your body’s major anatomical systems and exercises to nearly all of your bones and muscles.
The Skatepark
Swift-Cantrell Park’s 40,000 square foot cement skate park opened on November 23, 2014. Since its opening, the skatepark has been host to a number of large events sponsored by major companies like Adidas and Cricket Wireless as well as smaller events for the local skaters. The skatepark has attracted many of the top professional skateboarders in the world who consider it one of the best parks in the country. Both young and old(er) skaters from all over the United States compete in the events or just come by for regular skate days. Spectators watching from the sidelines are all ages, from the very young to the very old.
Natural Amphitheater
5 times each year, the Kennesaw Parks Department shows 5 family friendly movies on a 40 foot movie screen with a super sound system. Hundreds of families enjoy the evening outdoors with family and friends watching very popular current movie favorites while relaxing on blankets and lawn chairs.
Green Spaces
The city has purposely reserved vast open grassy spaces at the 42 acre Swift-Cantrell Park for the purpose of enjoying open play space for family fun. While league play is not permitted, kite flying, frisbee throwing, and family fun games are permitted. Please note that drones, model rockets, remote cars and planes are not allowed due to the potential for park visitor injury.
Master Plan
In early 2014, the City of Kennesaw, along with the assistance of a team of professional consultants from GreenRock Partners, LLC, conducted a thorough review of the park’s Master Plan that was developed in 2006, which led to construction of the facilities in place today. The purpose of the review was to evaluate the park’s existing features, uses and opportunities, and determine what changes (if any) would best serve the community’s needs. After forming a steering committee of citizen stakeholders, soliciting input via public meetings and surveys, and reviewing evaluative data, an updated Master Plan was proposed and adopted by the Kennesaw City Council on July 21, 2014.
