The Swift Cantrell Park Foundation and the Skater and Parent Support Team wish to congratulate this month’s Skater of the Month awardee, Jake Speaks (3rd from left in first picture of event winners and in Vans shirt working at event in second picture).  The award goes to a skater exhibiting good citizenship at the skatepark. Jake is a frequent visitor to the skatepark where he is often found helping younger skaters learn new tricks.  Jake has also been an active member of the Parent and Skater Support Team, a group of local skaters, parents, and grandparents that meet once a month to plan and run a local’s skate event and select a worthy Skater of the Month. Jake has helped with many local contest registrations, judging and helping wherever he can.

Ambush Boarding Company of Kennesaw has generously provided the Skater of the Month with a skateboard deck. Other contributors for contest prizes or deep discounts for prizes include Play It Again Sports, ChutingStar, Main Street Pharmacy, High Rollen Skate Shop, YoungHearted Apparel, and Freestyle Promotions.

The next meeting of the Parent and Skater Support Team is the 3rd Thursday of next month (Aug. 20) with a locals’ contest the following day, both starting at 7 pm at the skatepark.  Any local parent, grand parent, or skater of any age, and supportive local merchants are welcome to join this volunteer team of helpers dedicated to making our skatepark the best in the country.
